THE OG's - Mum & Dad at our first restaurant in Marrickville... and my brother, still deciding if hewants rice or noodles.

She’s the boss (in and out of the kitchen). He’s the wok whisperer.
Together, they’ve been feeding Sydney since the ’80s — with little more than a wok, a handful of ingredients, and recipes passed down from memory, not cookbooks.

Before Grape Garden (葡萄園) was a chilli oil, a dumpling, or even a restaurant, it was just Mum and Dad — newly arrived from Beijing, building a life (and a kitchen) from the ground up in Sydney. They didn’t have much, but what they did have, they shared: flavour, warmth, and a deep respect for where they came from.
Nearly four decades later, not much has changed. They’re still in the kitchen. Still hand-making dumplings, still hand-pulling noodles, still feeding the community — one bowl at a time.

GG has always been about more than food. It’s about family, authenticity, and the kind of comfort that brings people together — whether you’re seated at our table or yours.
